Erinvale ![]() |
Erinvale Golf Estate is ideally located because the area is almost completely protected from the notorious south easterly wind that so often whistles across the Cape Flats in summer. Normally the influence of the wind is the dominating factor is designing a golf course in the Western Cape, but at Erinvale it is much less of a factor and instead the designers have taken advantage of the spectacular terrain. The winter northwester affects the course but is seldom as pervasive as the south-easter. The farm Erinvale, on the historic and beautiful Vergelegen Estate, nestles at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain in Somerset West. The first nine climbs and then descends the gently sloping foothills of the Helderberg and it gets quiet close to the 200-meter contour in places. Most holes on this nine have absolutely spectacular sea and mountain views, which stretch over False Bay as well as the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The second nine runs along the valley floor and has far more of a parkland aspect. Extensive contouring and mounding has been introduced for variety and much of the existing fynbos and many old trees have come into play |

Pearl Valley Golf Course ![]() |
Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature and has provided a golf course that fits in with the environment. This fairly flat and largely uninterrupted terrain enabled Nicklaus the freedom to develop hole strategies making this a golf course the golfer has to think his/her way around. In its engineering and planning detail, the course is very rare. It is crossed by roads in only three places, and the drainage system allows play to. |
